Closing remarks iipu 2026

Greetings to everyone.

It has been an incredible three days at IIPU 2026. On behalf of the Malaysian Society of Interventional Pain Practitioners, I want to thank you all for being here.

From the 16th to 18th July, we gathered 160 participants and 15 international experts from Korea, India, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand at Connexion Convention Centre.

We were honored to have Dato' Dr. Mohd Azman bin Yacob, the Deputy Director General of Health, officiate this event.

We were privileged to host 15 distinguished overseas experts  from Korea, India, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand, alongside 160 dedicated participants from both local and international arenas.

The exchange of ideas has been truly inspiring. I wish to highlight a few pivotal lectures that shaped our discussions:

Professor Dr. Shin Jin Woo from Korea captivated us with a video-assisted lecture on percutaneous balloon neuroplasty, featuring a balloon catheter of his own design.

Dr. Gaudam Das from Daradia, India, provided early and crucial insights into the complex realm of Nociplastic Pain.

Professor Dr. Shigeki, the current President of the Japan Society of Pain Clinicians, introduced a novel medication for neuropathic pain that is soon to be launched in Malaysia. I am also humbled to have had the opportunity to share my own research on spinal stenosis and discogenic low back pain.

We are also proud to have featured research presentations from 11 of our

junior pain clinicians—a milestone for MSIPP.

Our thanks go to all our sponsors, including Riff Raff Pain Cast, Ample Health Care, and Menarini, for their generous support.

The academic sessions culminated in a highly successful  hands-on cadaveric workshop held at the Academy of Silent Mentor, Kuala Lumpur.

It was a privilege to see 70 participants actively engage in fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided procedures, honing the practical skills  that are so vital to our practice.

As we look to the future, MSIPP remains unwavering in our commitment to upholding the highest standards of interventional pain practice in Malaysia.

Thank you once again, and we look forward to seeing you at IIPU 2027.

Dr. Chen Chee Kean
